Sourcing

The coffee we source is selected for many key factors, such as its unique flavour, overall balance, and how it performs in a myriad of serving styles.

Our coffee bean sources are always evaluated for their consistency, traceability, and flavour profiles that reward timeless, fantastic tasting beans over simple, trend-led expressions.

Ethical sourcing and fair compensation are treated as base-line fundamentals, ensuring quality and responsibility are a driving factor from the start of process all the way through from farm to cup.

Roasting

For us roasting is equal parts a method of artistic expression and an engineering process.

Working with a specialist roastery here in the Midlands, profiles are developed through strong ideas, repeat testing, and measured adjustment.

The specifics of roasting temperature, airflow, and development time are refined incrementally over time, ensuring each and every batch delivers clarity, balance, and repeatability before release.



What is the Distiller’s Selection?

The Distiller’s Selection reflects how CrownWorks thinks about flavour coordination across everything it creates. Although founded as a distillery, CrownWorks approaches coffee through the same lens — considering balance, structure, and how flavours interact over time.

The coffee we are producing today not only is selected and roasted to match our desired flavour profile, but is also intended to be a compliment to the spirits we are creating now and in the future!

Rather than being a fixed selection of coffee, our range evolves as our raw materials change; be it from weather, harvest conditions, or even standard seasonal variation, it can all massively influence flavour, even within the same crop. As those variables change harvest to harvest, the Distiller’s Selection adapts — refining, changing or even replacing blends where necessary to ensure each release continues to meet our (admittedly high) standard. The focus is not on the permanence of the specific beans we use, but on the consistency of the quality and flavour we expect of our coffee.
